Pet Therapy Services

“Lily is a treasure,” said Carol. “Her calico striping, amber eyes and soft white coat make her a  magnificent creature. It’s such a treat when she comes for a visit.”

Pet Therapy Volunteers and their certified therapy animals are adored members of our hospice volunteer team. The soothing presence and unconditional affection of your qualified therapy pet can offer comfort and peace to a fellow animal lover.

Pawsitive Pet Connect Volunteers make it possible for our hospice and palliative care patients to stay connected to their pet by walking dogs, playing with cats, as well as delivering pet food and other items, such as cat litter, flea medication and pet toys. Pet therapy volunteers also assist with transporting pets to veterinarian and grooming appointments.

Pet therapy volunteers will receive comprehensive training as well as dedicated support from The Elizabeth Hospice’s volunteer coordinators.

Flexible volunteer hours are built around our hospice patients’ needs.

Volunteer opportunities are available in your community. We serve patients in their home or residence throughout San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County.

Pet therapy volunteers often tell us that they get more than they give. While you will be helping others, there are benefits for you, too. These include: meeting new people, learning new skills, connecting with others who share your interests, and supporting your community.
