Complementary Therapies

“As a licensed cosmetologist, I have a gift that I want to share with hospice patients,” said haircut volunteer Aubrey. “My love language is acts of kindness.”

Through Reiki, massage therapy, aromatherapy, music support and hair styling, you can bring a sense of peace and relaxation to others. If you are trained or licensed in one of the following complementary therapies and have to serve your community just one week a month, we’d love to have you a part of our hospice volunteer team.

REIKI VOLUNTEER – Level 1 training completion (minimum requirement)

MASSAGE THERAPY VOLUNTEER – California license (required)

HAIR CUTTING VOLUNTEER – California cosmetology or barber license (required)

AROMATHERAPY VOLUNTEER – Training provided by The Elizabeth Hospice

MUSIC THERAPY VOLUNTEER – Background in discipline (required)

VISUAL ARTS THERAPY VOLUNTEER – Background in discipline (required)

Complementary Therapy Volunteers will receive comprehensive training as well as dedicated support from The Elizabeth Hospice’s volunteer coordinators.

Flexible volunteer hours are built around our hospice patients’ needs. Volunteer opportunities are available in your community. We serve patients in their home or residence throughout San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County.

Therapy volunteers often tell us that they get more than they give. While you will be helping others, there are benefits for you, too. These include: meeting new people, learning new skills, connecting with others who share your interests, and supporting your community.
