Support Group Provides Grieving Adults an Opportunity to Read, Learn and Heal Together

March 22, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm UTC+0

Community Invited to Join Free Book Club from The Elizabeth Hospice

Grief can be difficult to express in words but many authors have found a way to share feelings of loss through their writings.

The Elizabeth Hospice is offering a new support group, JOURNEY THROUGH GRIEF BOOK CLUB, for adults looking to connect with others who also face adversity after the death of a loved one. There is no cost to attend.

The first book selection is Option B by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant. After her husband’s sudden death, Sherly Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer for Facebook, was sure that she and her children would never feel joy again. In Option B, she shares stories, research and practical advice that examines resiliency, offers hope and helps others build strength for life’s challenges. Even though the book is about spousal loss, the discussions will be relevant to all who are grieving.

Sessions will be facilitated by Jennifer Rosewall, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mechelle Fitzgeorge, Counseling Trainee with The Elizabeth Hospice. The group will meet on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, beginning March 22, via Zoom. “Our counselors will help the book club participants explore their grief at a variety of stages and teach them new coping skills for processing their grief,” said Kathlyne Barnum, Clinical Counseling Program Supervisor with The Elizabeth Hospice. “This is an opportunity to read, learn and heal with others who share similar life experiences.”

Space is limited and registration is required. RSVP by March 19 mechelle.fitzgeorge@ehospice.org or Jennifer.rosewall@ehospice.org or 833.349.2054.
