Making compassionate hospice and palliative care available to everyone in need is our highest priority. While many patients have Medicare, insurance, or other financial means, this doesn’t always cover the actual costs of our hospice services. There are also many who do not have Medicare or insurance, but are nonetheless in need of our compassionate care. The Elizabeth Hospice Foundation works hard to ensure that no patient is turned away and services are available to all in need.
With your assistance, we are able to provide our invaluable, compassionate, quality care to our community. Thank you for supporting our mission.

A New Role For You
People touched by hospice are a wonderful resource for those who want to learn more about hospice as an end-of-life care option. The Elizabeth Hospice is mobilizing an informal person-to-person network with the goal of increasing awareness and understanding of hospice.
The mission of The Elizabeth Hospice Ambassadors is to spread the word about this difficult, but important topic. It is not fundraising nor is formal training required. Spreading the word about hospice care can be done individually or through groups and organizations such as your church or service club. Telling a friend about hospice is a wonderful way to let them know you care.
How To Get Started
Our Ambassadors are supplied with support materials that include:
“The job is simple, you talk to family and friends about hospice care as the occasion naturally arises—at home, work, school or church; whenever and wherever. It’s because of my experiences that I want hospice care to reach everyone who needs it. I can’t do it without your help. I hope you will join me.” – Marilyn Pollack, Ambassador's Volunteer
To become a part of the Ambassador's Program or to find out more, please email the coordinator at ambassadors@elizabethhospice.org or call (760) 737-2077.
Our volunteers play a vital role in the lives of our patients and of those who love them. It is a role that will never be forgotten, by you or by each life you touch.
Our next volunteer training sessions are in February at The Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest Street, Escondido, CA 92025.
3 consecutive Saturdays on February 2, 9 and 16, 2013
8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
To become a volunteer you must attend all three sessions.

What is an endowment?
An endowment is truly the gift that keeps on giving. A true endowment is a permanent fund where a donor’s gift (or other funds) are invested and the principal is not spent. The idea is that these invested funds will generate income to be used to support an organization and its programs.
Typically, a predetermined percentage of the funds’ earnings are allowed to be expended each year for a donor’s designated program, or the organization in general, while the remainder of its earnings are reinvested along with the principal for continued growth.
Why are endowments important?
Endowments are an investment in our future. They help build long-term capacity and create stability by providing a perennial source of income. This separate stream of income means we’re not relying solely on other revenue sources which can often fluctuate or be somewhat unpredictable.
How can you help?
Contributions of cash or stocks for endowment will extend the impact of your gift to future generations, ensuring our ability to provide compassionate care to anyone who seeks our services for years to come. An endowment gift can also be made through a bequest in your will or trust.
Anyone can make a gift to The Elizabeth Hospice Endowment Fund, no matter how big or small! To make a donation to endowment, or for information about establishing your own named endowment fund, please contact Ruth Frazier at 760.796.3722 or email Ruth.Frazier@ehospice.org.
We look forward to helping you create your own legacy!
