4th Annual Wings of Hope Community Event – May 5, 2013
4th Annual Wings of Hope Celebration
Dark skies and rain drops could not dampen the uplifting mood at the 4th Annual Wings of Hope Celebration hosted by the Center for Compassionate Care on Sunday, May 5. More than 750 loved ones—of all ages—released 900 butterflies at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido and the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa. In spite of the gloomy skies, the mood at both events was upbeat, light-hearted, and filled with hope. After the release, guests gathered for a reception and the opportunity to reconnect with members of their care team. Bereavement counselors from the Center for Compassionate Care were also available to offer comfort and support to those in need.
Keepsakes, including commemorative notecards in packets of seven, memorial wildflower seeds, and decorative paperweights were available for purchase during the reception. Proceeds from keepsake purchases, sponsorships, and donations to Wings of Hope amounted to nearly $42,000, benefiting end-of-life patient care and grief support services offered by The Elizabeth Hospice and Center for Compassionate Care. Keepsakes are still available by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 760.796.3737.
